The Harmony of Life
by Kerry Henwood
Issue: Volume 9, Number 3. May/June 1997

I was reminded of India as I sat in the mountains of Oregon USA, playing my didgeridoo. I became part of the sound, and my mind began to float. All parts of my being in this moment felt like a sweet melody. I became the instrument. I moved to a space where I felt a part of all living things: the rocks, trees, grass, clouds, birds, the hawk flying above and the deer as it came close to me.

I had tuned my Soul. I touched all spheres. I became a musical note in the great symphony of Life. This harmony grew inside of me, moving to my heart and in a lightning flash I realized I am in the harmony of life.

With that I thought I stopped playing and in the silence I heard the greatest music of all - the trees, leaves, grass, rocks and earth, singing a joyous song.

I had come home to the sweet rhythm of my life.

This experience made me ponder why we are so moved by music, by sounds? Is it that we are trying to tune our Souls to harmonize with Life and the Universe. If there was no harmony, no rhythm of Life where would we be?

Rhythm is a hidden law of Nature, like the rising and setting of the Sun, the waxing and waning of the Moon, the regular flow of the tides in the sea and the seasons as they come and go, all show rhythm. And why should rhythm have such an influence upon us? Because we ourselves are rhythm. The beating of our hearts, the pulse throbbing in our wrist and head, the working of the whole mechanism of our body is rhythmic.

The great Yogis of India understand rhythm. They merged with this rhythm to control and prolong life, through the practice of different yogic techniques. The Immortal Babaji and Jesus were two such yogis.

If you stay in the natural rhythm of life you will be in harmony, and harmony is the source of manifestation, the cause of it's existence and the medium between God and man. The peace for which every Soul strives and which is the true nature of God and the utmost goal of man is but the outcome of harmony.

Come, listen to the sweet sound of nature, to the beating of our heart, become the Divine Musician and meet me in the symphony of Life.
