SHAMANIC BODY TRANCE
HEALING
The shaman, in an altered state of consciousness, resides in a space of
Soul Awareness where ceremony is performed for healing on the physical,
emotional and spiritual levels. Rather than focusing on the personality
of the ego mind, we expand to the realm of Soul Awareness, where we are
whole and unlimited potential. The physical body then resonates to
create greater balance with spirit. During the session, the ego is able
to move into an adjusted form, allowing a rekindling of energy that
results in more vibrant health and rejuvenation.
Soul Retrival is an
ancient shamanic tradition that teaches that through traumatic
experience we split off to withdraw to a safer place. This protects us
from feeling the full brunt of the pain, and we thus learn to survive.
In soul retrieval the shaman will journey to mend the fragmented self,
helping others bring themselves back to their bodies, the earth, and
home again.
SHAMANIC
HEALING
Shamanism is nearly a world-wide phenomenon, appearing in places as
geographically diverse as Australia, Africa, Asia and North and South
America. Shaman's are consulted by people from all walks of life, for
healing, divination and as intermediaries with the spirit world.
Indeed, shamanism is the "Doorway to the transpersonal" awareness
Because it is not an organized religion as such, but rather a spiritual
practice, shamanism cuts across all faith and creed, reaching deep
levels of ancestral memory. As a primal belief system, which precedes
established religion it has its own universal symbolism and cosmology,
inhabited by beings, gods and totems, who display similar
characteristics, (although they appear in various forms, depending on
their places of origin). (Michael Harner) defines shamanism as a
technique of ecstasy" achieving an altered state of consciousness,
which he calls the "shamanic state of consciousness" or "ecstasy".
There are many techniques a shaman
may use during a healing session...from extraction, divination, spirit
invocation, psychopomp and soul retrieval. The shaman will travel in an
altered state of consciousness to determine the cause of the problem.
Through ritual it is the shaman's intent to restore wholeness to body,
mind, spirit and soul. The shaman is a mediator between the realms to
bring heaven and earth, spirit and human-kind together.
"Shamans transmit to their people in
sign, song and dance the nature of the cosmic geography, that has been
revealed to them in the process of initiation, trances and soul
journey. Map-makers and myth-dancers, shamans live internally in a
multi-dimensional realm continuous with so-called ordinary reality."
